Guide to Simple Architectural Design

Welcome to Arc Beauty. Below are simple instructions on how to use the architectural design interface. These instructions are designed to help creators, thinkers, and enthusiasts to draft simple yet detailed architectural layouts. The idea is to design without the use of complex, confusing, and cluttered tools and icons.

This simple tool can provide users with a clutter-free environment to help bring their structural ideas to life! Users have the ability to map out simple floor plans and test dimensions of spaces or visual architectural layouts.

This guide will help you to understand the feature, technical tools, and best practices for creating a clean and elegant architectural layout.

Understanding Your Architectural Design Toolkit

This is a simple software interface that is free from cluttered toolbars, and you have the ability to have more space for designing architectural blueprints. It helps to minimize distraction while drafting layouts. Here is the breakdown of each feature available in the interactive canvas and how you can apply them to your architectural designs.

1. Dynamic Grid Layout (Show Grid Layout)

Users to have the ability to use the “show grid” (small box with a check mark) to turn off or on the grid lines. Users can use the scroll bar to scroll up and down to have more space for sketching. Clicking on the “show grid” button helps with precision when drawing lines and symmetry. The virtual grid or graph paper serves as a visual anchor to help with sketching rooms, walls, walkways, and more.

*Design Tip

When sketching architectural drafts, it is highly recommended to use a universal measuring scale for each grid square, and that is 1 square = 1 square foot. This in turn will help you to calculate the precise dimensions of each room and multiply to get the correct square footage of a space.

Imagine the squares as floor tiles.

For example, count 10 tiles vertically and horizontally (more or less vertically or horizontally).

Then you multiply those tiles (10 x 10 = 100 square feet).

Thus, you sketched a 100-square-foot room!

Alternatively, if you count 9 tiles vertically and 10 tiles horizontally (vice versa), you will have a total of 90 square feet.

9 x 10 = 90 square feet!

This simple measuring technique allows you to maintain consistent dimensions across your entire architectural layout to ensure all spaces and lines are structurally proportional.

2. The Precision Line Tool (Blue Line)

The precision line tool is the simple primary instrument to bring your architectural ideas to life. It is used for making straight lines for all spaces. This tool is recommended for symmetry, precision and precise measurement of all spaces.

* Application:

This tool alone is fundamental and foundational to your building design. As lines represent your structural elements, such as the walls of a space, it helps to ensure all layouts are professional, organized, and structurally aligned.

* How it Works:

Once you select the line tool, you simply click and drag out the blue line and release the mouse button or lift your finger off the screen if using a mobile application to whatever length of space in your layout, and simply work your way to each vertex until you have a perfect square.

Each vertex is the point where the lines meet or come together.

3. The Free Draw Feature (Free Draw)

Architecture is not always about living in a square space or box. With the free draw tool, users can think outside the box. It is a fundamental expression of mankind’s creativity. The “free draw” tool allows you to bring your creative ideas to life by stepping away from the straight-line tool and to sketch arches, circles, or other organic shapes by hand.

* Application:

This feature is perfect for adding artistic ideas, landscape elements, or indications of specific details within a room layout.

* Use Cases:

The “free draw” tool helps users to sketch outdoor garden paths, curved features or other shapes or unique designs. You can also hand-write notes or place labels directly onto your sketch to help identify spaces such as a foyer, pantry, garden, kitchen, patio, etc.

4. The Canvas Eraser (Eraser)

Architectural design is iterative by nature, and modification of architectural layouts is a common and natural part of drafting. The idea is to remove mistakes and make adjustments easily without having to delete or reset the whole layout.

* How to Use:

Click the eraser and glide over unwanted lines or markings on the virtual grid to help clear space and make revisions to layouts. This eraser tool works for both the straight-line tool and free draw tool.

5. Exporting Your Schematics or Diagram (Download PNG)

Upon completion of your architectural layout, you can preserve your work instantly by using the “Download PNG” feature.

* Functionality:

You simply click the PNG button, and it will create a high-resolution universal image file of your drawing or layout.

* Value:

This function has value, as you can save a permanent copy of your blueprint directly to your technical devices. You can print as well and store them in a personal project portfolio or archive and share your blueprints or layouts with others.

Step-by-Step Blueprint Tutorial for Beginners

When beginning your design from scratch, just follow this simple instruction to help you create a clean, elegant, and beautiful architectural layout.

1. Activate Grid Feature: The activate grid feature should automatically be turned on once navigating to the site. If not, just click the box and a check mark, and it will appear. This helps to set your spatial boundaries.

2. Outline Perimeter: Use the straight-line tool to draw straight lines for walls of a building or other parts like a sink, tub, etc. It will help to keep track of your square footage of the overall layout.

3. Section the Rooms: Draw your interior partition walls, ensuring to leave spatial gaps wherever necessary to indicate doorways, archways, wheelchair turning radius if accessibility is part of your layout goals, etc.

4. Label and Detail: You can switch to the “free draw” tool to help annotate specific rooms and functions or loosely mark where shapes or fixtures like sinks, pantries, gardens, storage areas, vanities, etc. will go.

5. Save Your Layout: When you are finished drafting your layout, just click the PNG download feature to export your final architectural design as a crisp PNG image.

The goal is too make architecture how it should be - elementary. Architecture does not have to be overly complicated. You can create a custom design that is elegant, clean, and beautiful. By Using the tools on the virtual canvas harmoniously, you can bring your architectural ideas to life, design spaces, and explore the timeless art and passion of architectural design on a simple, elegant, and distraction-free canvas.
